The main focus of my research is to understand the challenges faced by financial institutions in low and middle-income countries and figuring out the best ways to regulate them effectively. I earned my PhD in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 2017 and I've had the opportunity to visit other institutions like Princeton University and the Stigler Center at the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business. In 2023, I was awarded an ERC Starting Grant on the topic "Financial Institutions and Development - FINDEV".
My research focuses on the study of financial institutions in emerging markets, especially the intersection between finance, political economy, and development. My main projects are taking place in Pakistan, Ethiopia, and Colombia.
